The tower to the high-school building was wrecked, chimneys blown down, trees and shrubbery destroyed, stables demolished and sevcral hend of horses killed. The force of the wind soemed to pass off to the south and southeast. The dauiage is estiinated at $50,000. Prompt measures have been taken by the city authorities for the relief of the sufferers, and citizens generally consider that they had a fortúnate escapa Reports from the country adjacentto the city are that several houses were deBtroyed. These were all the serious casual - ties, but minor dainage was done to other properües.
