St. Paul, Minn., March 22.- The Bepubl!can Central Cammittee met in thia city Tuesday and issued a cali íor a Bepublioan State conven tion to be held in St Paul May 16 to elect delegates to the Chicago convention. Datton, O., March 22.- The Democratio State convention has been called to meet in this city May 15. Atlanta, Ga., March 22.- The Demócrata will hold their State convention in this city May 9 to Belect delsgates to Sn Louis, and another on August 8 to select candidates for State offices. Leb, N. H., March 22.- At the annual meeting here yeaterday Mrs. Bebecca Bennett was chosen moderator and Mrs. James Buzzell was elected superintendent of Bchools, the first instances oL the kind in the State. Des Moines, Ia., March 22. -The Iowa Bepublican convention in this city yesterday was largely attended. X P. Dolliver, who was chosen temporary cnairman, but owing to the ülness of Governor Larrabee was contlnued as permanent chairman, made a speech in favor of Allison and Bepublican principies. Congressman David B. Henderson was by acclamation selected a' delegat e-aMurge to the National convention, the balloting for the other three delegates resulting in the election of J. 8. Clarkson, George D. Perkins and J. P. Dolliver. The resolutions simply set f orth the qnalifications an d attainments of Senator William B. Allison, and recommend him as a fit candidate for the Presidency. These were adopted with cheers; Allison songs were sung, the convention joining in the chorus, and an Allison brigade waa formed to go to Chicago In June. Columbus, 0., March 23.- The Democratie State Central Committee bas decided to hold the State convention in Dayton May 15 and 16. Detboit, Mich., March 2a- The Democratie State convention, to choose delfgates to the National convention, will be held at Grand Kapids May 16. Paekersbubg, W. Va., March 23.- The Prohlbitionists will meet in this city July 18 to norninate a State ticket and elect delegates to their National convention at Indianapolis. Austin, Tex., March 21.- Governor Roes has determined to convene the Legislature in extra session on April 16, to dispose of the surplus money in the State treasury. Pbovidence, R I., March 24.- The Legislature adjourned sine die yeeterday. Louis ville, Ky., March 25- A special from Harrodsburg, Ky., says: The Prohibitionists of thls, the Eighth Congressional districr, have nominated Hon. Green Clay Smith for Congress, to run against the present incumbent, Hon. James B. McCreery. Pittsbüboh, Pa., March 25 - According to the statement of Thomas B. Magutre, a member of the General Executive Board of the Knights of Labor, Judge Gresham is the most acceptable candidato with the laboring men among all that have been named in connectlon with the Presidential nomination. They had reason to believe, by the Judge's recent decisions, he said, that Gresham wasnot controlled by corporations. "He is strong with labor organizations everywhere," continued McGuire, "andlwould be pleased to see ,him nominated. We believe him to be a good, pure man, who recognizes the rights of labor." Kapids, Mich., March 24.- Owing to the Pröhibition convention being called here May 16 the Democratie State Central Committee has changed the date of the Democratie convention to Thursday, May 10. New York, March 2C- The Kepublican State Committee met Saturday in the Fitth Avenue Hotel and decided to hold the State convention at Bufifalo on May 16. Louisviüe, Ky., March 28,-JudgeS. G. Sharp, chairman of the Democratie State Executive Committee, was yesterday nominated and conörmed as Treasurer pro tem. of the State of Kentucky by the Senate at Frankfort Beixefontaine, O., March 28.- The Republicana of the Eighth Ohio district Tuesday nominated General Kobert P. Kennedy, the present incumbent, for Congress.
