Phh-adelphia, April 5 -Af ter an illness of several ïnonths Benjamin Harria Brewster, United States Attorney General during President Arthur's administraron, died in tuis city early yesterday morning. He was one of the oldest and most prominent members of the rhiladelphia bar. IMr Brewster was in lila 72d year, having been born October 13, 1816, in New Jersey. Hegraduated at Princeton in 1834, and was admitted to the bar in 1888. He was appointed by President Polk in 1846 to examine into the claims of the Cherokee Indians against the Government. From 186T to 1869 he was Attorney-General for Pennsylvania. He was made Attorney-General of the United States by President Arthur in 1831, and served until 1885, a period covering the conclusión of the starroute trials. When a young man he risked nis life in trying to save his sister from death by flre, and was himself disflgured forlife.l
