M tas Lillie M. Nichols, daughter of Prof. B. E. Nichola, of this city, is studying art with R. Swain Gifford in New York. She competed in the G3d annual exhibition of the National academy of design, and her pictuie, which was that of a violio and a rose on a sheet of music, was one of those exhibited.
