Bat City, Mich., May 9.- James Birney, son oí Jame9 G. Birney, the Abolition leader and candidate for President, died in thi9 city yesterday, aged 70. Mr. Birney had been United States Minister to the Hague and Lieutenant-Governor of Michigan, and held other State and local offices.
