IXTHAAroLis, Ind., June L7.- Genera] Harrison's house was thronged by visitors yesterday and last evening to congratúlate him upon hi9 nomination for the Presidency by the Republican convention. In the evening an immense mass-meeting was held at Tomlinson Hall. At 8 o'clock a delegation of old soldiers, members of the Seventieth Indiana Regiment, which belonged to General Harrison's brigade, ealled. in a body and were received by the General. In behalf of the soldiers Major George W. Grubbs, of Martinsville, delivered a brief address, to whieh General Harrison responded in feeling and appropriate terms. A dozen or more delégate fromiNew York, all of the California delegatiou, heailed by Messrs. Estce and De Young, and a few scatlering delégate from other Statee, who carne down from Chicago on a delayed night train, called in a body and were informally received in the parlors of the house by General and Mrs. Har rison. New York, June 27.- The Htrald prints the following dipatch from Rhinebeck. H. Y. : Wben Harrison s nomination for President became an assured íact a reporter interviewed Mr. L. P. MortOD, the New York banKer, whose nomination for second place on the ticket then seemed assured. "How do jou regard Harrison's nominationJ" querried the reporter. "I regard General Harrison's nomination as the strongest that could have been made by the República National conventlon. It will place Indiana in the Republican column, and with the Republican party in New York unlted as it is to-ciay, I can not íor a moment doubt a Republican victory in November." At 9:30 o'clock p. m. the news oJ Levi P. Mor ton's nomination for Vice-President was re', ceived here. Almost in an instant the streets wre ulied with an enthusiastic crowd and the boom of cannon and the rattle oí flre-crackers resounded in every direction. The reportar was the flrst to apprise Mr. Morton of his nomination, and asked it he wou ui accept. ■Icertalnly could not decline the nomination with which 1 have been honored by the representatives ol the Republican party m convention assembled," was Mr. Morton' s reply. Indiajjapolis, Ind., June 27.- General Harrison has been receivingtelegrams and letters from all quarters and from many distinguished persons besides the hundreds which arrived Monday night. In response to a telegram received he sent the following: " Hon. Levi P. Morton- New York: Thanks for your kind message. Let me assure you that the association ol your name with mine on the ticket gives me great satisfaction. " 8KWJAMIN HARKISON." Chicago, June 87.- A meeting of the committee of the Republican National convenUon whioh is to notify the nominees for the Fresidency and Vice-Presidency of the action of the convention was held here yesterday, and it was decided to notify General Harrison of his nomination at 13 o'clock noon on July 4, and the Bates House at Indianapolis was designated as the place The time and place for notifying Hon. Levi P. Morton will be designated heieafter.
