From The Carpenter. Men jjin or lorin a uniĆ³n, and if they do not at once realiza some monetary benefit, begin tokiek ; f.irgettmg the fact that the same hard couditions for the man (f toil exist ia every other locality as wel! as theirs, they clamor for relief that it is impossible to mmediatily afford. They forget the duly of the liour is to labor for the strengthening of the organizaiion and by thus extending i(s [lovver, be able, in time, to have a eustaining power tbat will be reasonably able to affbrd pioleotion. This indiscriminate inanner ot making demands andprecipitating trouble is positively suicidai. They wish to correct the wrongs of yeais by the work of a few weeks. Many of our uuions have engaged in strikes without the sanction of the Executive Boar J, which is a violation ot our laws. Men get together, adopt a scale of time and wagee, send it to the employers with a demand that on nnd f.fter such a date the same shall be enforcd. Thus a strike is preoipitated and a cali made on the Eecutive Board for endor.-ernent and aid, which, comiog from so inanv quarters ai the game time, would nqui:e a gold mine, and a fertile one at that, to meet all the calis. The worst teatuie ot the whole thing is the indignation in many iastances expressed because fitiaucial aid is not immediately rendered.
