" The state board of escheats, which consista of the attomey general, f ecretary of state and state treasurer, held a meeting Wednesday, and received from the Benzie county authorities the gum of $136, being the asets of a man who left neither heirs nor a wilL The money was paid into the general fund of the state treasury. Such occurrence8 are very rare in this state, though it is said that similar sums are held in several county treasuries in the state, the treasurers being averse to turning over the property to the state for fear heirs may appear and claim the amounts from them. Washtenaw county held $5,000 of such moneyB, used it up, and is now asked by an heir to pay t over. The board holds s small amount of eseheated lands, nd receutly sold one small tract there of which had been held for many years." __________ A. J. Sawyer, J. F. Lawrence, and G. S.
