It is called "A Hot Barg.iin," and represents two Arabs arguing over the price of a loise. Murat Halstead was present as a corrs(.pondent al the batile of Gravelotte. In tbe November Cen.ury he will teil the story of the battle ag he saw it, and give an account also of a subsequent visit to the battle field, after the monuments had 3een erected. The American Magazine for October is an exceptionally brilliaut number. It opens with a richly illutrated descnptive paper by Lieut. Waker S. Wilson, on :he Seventh Regiment of New York, which introduces a s-eries entitled "Amer ca's Crack Regiments. " Dr. Wm. F. rlutchini-on furnishec another of bis charmïng South American papers, describing in this issue the Orinoco River. Another very iuteresting contribution ís a Summer drive, witb pen aud pencil. in the valley of the Oonnectieut, by John R. Chapin.
