Pocomoke Citt, lid., Nuv. 23. - This town was swept by flre last night. Nearly all the business section was burned and the loss will be $500,000. The fire broke out at 4 p. m. in D. J. Fruit's di-ug-store. This building was situated in the heart oí the town, and f rom the first it was a hopeless casa The bucket and ladder brigade did all in their power, but their efforts proved fruitless. The town was not provided with tire apparatus, and a message was sent to Salisbury for its department A strong wind sent the flatnes from ene building to another. Besides the drug store, the llames destroyed the postoffloe, the Clarke House, the offices of the Times, the Record, the Oazette and the Ptninsuia Ledger (leaving the town without a newspaper), nineteen business houses and a dozen private residences.
