New York, Dec. 5. - The Sun dcvotes half of its first page to a recital of the wrongs of the helpless Alents of Alaska who. it is clairaed, are at the mercy of the agents of the monopoly known as the Alaska Commercial Company, which company, under its lease from the Gaveraraent of the United States, controls a large part of the eoasts and ishmds of that territory. The facts recited by the fiun show a shocking state of affairs. The wives and daughters of the natives of Alaska, it is claimed, are coi'rupted by the Commercial Company's agents. many of whotn are unprincipled drunkards; chiefs and priests are bribed by these agents, and the natives kent in a constant state of terroxism. Government officials who endeavor to stop the rcaudaK ous practices of the agents are porsecuteu so that they are glad to desist. The natives having t_ lost all patienco have, the Sun says, addressed to the people of the United States au appeal invoking their aid in spcuring proper protection from the GovernmenU This appeal, which is written in the HusBian language, has been forwarded to this country and is now in the hand of uno of our prominent public men whu w 11 ly :t before the proper cominittee in the next Congress.
