Mattoon, lll.. Jan. 9. - At 10:45 Monday night a very posiüve earthquake shock was feit by many persons in this city, and buildings were feit to víbrate for several seconds. It was the severest shock ever feit here. Shelbyyili.e, 111., Jan. 9. - The severest shock of earthquake known here for yeai startled the citizens Monday night about 11 o'clock. Buildings were shaken percejtibly and mauy persons were irightened f rom their beds. Pana, 111., Jan. ft- About 11 o'clock Monday night a severe earthquake was feit in this city. Ijarge buildings were swayed perceptibly and many peoplc were awakened by the shock.
