Levees Give Way

Shrevepokt, La., Jan. 29. - Several levees thirty or forty miles above this city are reported to have given way on Saturday nif?ht, causing the submerging of a large tract of country. Sunny Point levee below this city has also succumbed to the forcé of the curreut. All lowlands on the Red river not protected by levees are under water. No loss of life or stock Ís reported.
