Mr. Roland Reed, the comedian, apears at tbe opera Louse on Tuesday next in liis famous success, '■ The VVoman Hater." He is now playing to the capacity of the grand opera house in Chicago and the Inler-Ocean of Tuesday reviews the performance as foüows: Mr. Roland Reed was greeted Saturlay night by the largest audience that ever witnessed his nimble, light coinedy-doing in this city. The tbeatre was utterly crowded, and good report declares as many people as would have made satisfactory audience was turned away because there was nothins; lelt to sell of sitting room, and very little tanding. Mr. Reed proved bis deservng of such audience, acting ivith a humor and a zest that kept his patrons applauding or lauhing, ehiefly the later during such time as he was on the t-Uigp. ín the "Woman Hater" Mr, ieed has a very suitable play, a farceoomedy that ranges closely'with strict coraedy, with a central character of eccentricity, vivacity, loqnacity best adapted to Mr. Reed'speculiarities as comedian and character actor. It is imnecessary to compare this merry, effervescent comedian wiih oneof more uneion and quaint droliery who preceded ïim as Bundy. Mr. Reed is of anotner ype than was Mr. Raymond, but iu lis own way is no less admirable. Vloreover, Mr. Reed is y et yonng and is steadily growing professionally, and imiroving artistically in the service of le;itimate comedy so-called. He is funny n the " Woman Hater " without exceeding the bounds of propriety, hia odd humor at times convulsing the people on the stage with him as well as setting the audience on to laugh. He comes with a well-selected company, Miss Hattie Earle as leading lady, and a bright, pretty, diminutive little lady, Miss Lewis, as ingenue, and Miss Monk commanding the most attention. Mr. Reed will doubtless have a profitable week.
