Bibmingham, Ala., March 16.- Green and William Cofield, well-to-do farmers of Cleburne County, were supposed to own an Illinois still. The still was captured and destroyed by revenue ofh'cers, and it was rumored that George Brown, a neighbor of the Coflelds, had led the officers on the raid. A few nights later Brown"s barn and outhouses, with all their contenta, were burned. He publicly accused the Coflelds of the crime, and they started to hunt him xip. They met Brown in the road near his home, and the flght began. It is Baid that the Coflelds lirst opened fire on Brown. He returned the tire, killing William Cofield and badly woundlng Green Cofield. The Cofields are very popular and their friends have sworn vengeauce against Brown, and a bloody local warfare is expected. None of the parties have been arrested.
