The Michigan erop report for April 1, says: " The condition of wheat on April 1, compared with vitality and growth of average years, was in the Bouthern four tiers of counties, 89 ; in the central counties, 92 ; and in the northern counties, 95. It the Bouthern connties the condition April 1, 1888, was eight per cent lower; in 1887 il was one per cent lower, and in 1886 two per cent lower than on April 1, of this year. The total erop of the State in 1888. as estimated last October, was 23,581,504 bushels. The erop of 1887 was 22,729,882 bubbels, and of 1886, 26,347,246 bushels. The average annual production in the ten years 1878-87 was 27,206,852 bushels. "The winter has been remarkable for mildness and lack of moislure. In the eouthern eection of the State, where more than eighty five percent of the wheat erop is grown, the average temperature of December was three degrees, of January ñve degrees, and of Maren three and one-fourth degrees warmer than the normal as determined by obnervations for a long series of years. In February the temperature was six degrees below such normal, but at no time during the inonth did it rise much above the thawing point, henee the injury to the growing wheat was not bo great as when bard reezing and deep thawing frequently altérnate."
