The cotumon council was hastily called together Monday evening, and Aid. Ailmendinger ajted as clerk, City Ulerk Bach being sick. It was held at the nBtance of the street railway company. Gen. Church, C. S. Fait and Mr. Moan spoke in regard to the changes in the charter which they aked for. The matter was referred to the street committee and City Engineer Davis, who reported in ten minutes in favor of the chauges, and the report was adopted. These changes are as follows : 1. The gauge changad from 4 feet 84 inches to 4 teet. 2. To permit the use of tee rails. 3. Time ot running cars at nigut changed to 10:30 instead of 12. 4. Change of route, so that track may Ieave State-st. at North and run on North to Detroit and thence to the M. C. depot. Aid. C. Martin, O'ïiara, and Allmendinger were appointed a committee to find out the probable cost of widening Division-st from North-st. to Detroit-st. Trees were ordered plauted on Hanover square. The committee on firo department was ordered to examine the etair-cases on the north side of the opera house and report if they can be removed.
