The board of regenta met yesterday. Ab was expected, Prof. John Pewey was appoinled to fill the chair of pbilosophy made vacant by the death of Prof. Morris. The title of assistant professor of mechanical engineering was conferred upon Lieut. L. D. Miner. The resignations of Dr. C. H. Stowelland bis wife, and Prof. Langley were accepted. A communication waa received from the board of health of Ann Arbor asking that the regents compel students to present proofs of vaccinaiion within the five years previous to their entry. This quirement was not made by the board however. A request was presented from the medical laculty asking tiiat au appropriation be made for obtaining obstetrical cases for the use of the studeats of the medical department, and the sum of $500 was appropriated for thia purpose. The ïntroduotion of obstetrical cases into the hopitals has been made this year with great succes., and to the benefit of the student?. Nine cases have been in the University hospital and five in the Hornee ipathic hospital during the past few moQths. It was announced tbat the regents have been furniahsd by Mrs. Prof. Jones wiih $I0,0C0 lor the purpose of supporting a fellowship worth S500 a year, to be known as "The Elisha Jones Classical Fellowship," after her deceased husband. The competitors must be graduates in A. B. of the University of Michigan, of not more than two years standing, or else menjbers of the senior class intending to take the deeree of A.. B.
