The May erop report, juĂȘt issued by Secretary of State Osmun's department, gives gome very significant figures in connection with the oondition of the state at this time. The report is from 808 correspondents, representing 547 reporta from 397 townships in the southern counties, and 137 reporta from 124 townships in central counties. The amount of wheat winter-killed or otherwise destroyed was insignificant, and the erop was in good condition witb rare exceptions, considering the open winter and lack of rainfall ; 90 per cent. in the southern counties, 97 in the central, and 100 in the northern, on May 1. Since that time, however, a severe drouth has prevailed all over the state, and the erop has suffered severely - possibly bevond recoyery. From May 1 to May 10 there was hardly more than a trace of rain, and tbe weather has been extremely warm, the maximum temperatura for the past six days ranging trom 71 to 85 degrees Fabrenheit. For four montbs precedtog wheat sowing last year the rainfall Was more than four incliea lesa than normal, and the total precipitation (rain and meited snow) since Sept. 1 is 7 3 lOOths inches less than normal - a total deficiency of more than 11 inches in the 12 months euding wilh May 1, orbut a trifle more than two-third the average. Clover meadows and pastures are in rather better condition than a month ago, but old clover, or tbat seeded previous to last year has been much of it destroyed. The outlook for a full average erop of fruit is stil! very good. - Lansing Republican.
