Monmouth, HL, May 28. - Colonel J. W. Davidson of this city died here Wednesday morning. Tlie deceased was one of the oldest lawyers in the State, having practiced law ín this city for fifty years. He wae United States Marshal for the Northern district of Illinois in 1857, was PreBidential elector and Democratie candidate for Congress several times, and had just been elected city attorney.
