CAPITAL GO88IP. Washington, July 4.- Frederick Douglass called cu the President Tuesday to thank him í'or his appointment as Minister to Hayti, and to recommend Charles S. Morria for MiniBter to Liberia. Mr. Morrio is recommended for this place by General Alger, of Michigan; General Bradley, of Kentucky; General Knapp, of New York, and by several State delegations besides that of Kentucky. It is expected that he wiü get the appointment. Washington, July 5.- The present lndebtedness of the District of Columbia is ■,142,05o, a decrease of Í1,9W,600 since July, 1S88. Washington, July 5.- The coinage executed at the United States mints during June amounted to 8,934, 7U5 pieces, representtng 4,770,413.40 in ralue. There were 88,495 gold pieces, of 1,392.093 in valué, and 8,514,440 stlver pieces, of 3,289,303.50 ia valué. Washington, July 6.-Secretary Rusk has issued a circular to railroad agenta and managers notifyinff them that Texas fever exista among cattle In portions of Arkansas, Indian Territory and Texas. The circular gives instructions for ísolating infected cittle during transportation and for disinfecting cars after they have been unloaded. Iuspectors are to be located at all principal stock points in the country to see that the provisions of the circular are enforced. Washington, July 6. - Hadje Hassein Gtooly Khan, the Persian Minister to the United States, has resigned his post and wil! soon leave this country, never, he says, to return. He gives as his reason the articles published in American newspapers from time to time concerning the ways and doings of his royal master, the Shah. Washington, July 6.- The Secretary of the Treasury has under consideration the case of twenty-five English glass-blowers who landed at Boston April 12, and subíequently secured employment with Cham. berg, McKee & Co., of Jeanette, Pa. It in charged that these men were brought over by the Universal Federation of GlassWorkers in violation of the alien contractlabor law. Washington, July a- The President returned at 9 :2. Saturday night from Woodetock. He was accompanied by Secretary Tracy. He was met at the station by Private Secretary Halford, with whom he drove to the White House. Washington, July 9. -President Harrison will probably go up to Deer Park to Join his family on Friday, to remain over Sunday and during the early part of next week. Hereafter during the hot weather he expects to spend about two days in each week at work in Washington, and the remalnder of the time at Deer Park. Thi3 will make it unnecessary to take any extended vacation as has been the custom ol preceding Presidenta.
