SWEPT BT FLAMES. Milwaukee, July 6.- The entire brewery plant of the Faulk, Jung & Borchert Brewing Company burned to the g-round Thursday afternoon. The loss is $800,000, and the insurance less than $400,000. In the matter of area and flnancial loss the ilre is the biggest in the history of Milwaukee. The plant covered an area of about three acres on the Muskwango road in the Menominee valley, just outside the city limita It was the original plant of the Falk Brewing Company. Les than a year ago the Jung & Borchert Company abandoned their plant and Consolidated with the Falk Company, the capital stock of the Consolidated company $1,000,000. Slnce the consolidation extensiva improvements of the old Falk plant were made, includlng an addition to the main brewery of a brick building 146x257 feet, an eleyator 40x100 feet, 70 feet high, with a capaclty of 135,000 bushels of malt, and a largo engine-house. In the latter were slx new boilers and a new 50,000 ice machine with a capacity for making 100 tons of ice daily. Additions and improvements coet $100,000 and increased the capacity to 600,000 bar. reis of beer a year. Three hundred men were employed. Eixensbueo, W. T., July 6.- Fire brok out at 11 o'clock Thursday night in the gTocery store of 3. T. Anthony, on Main Btreet A high wind prevailing it soon spread to the adjoining frame buildings and then got beyond control of tha limited fire department, sweeping tho entire business portion of the city, embraclng Main street from Fif th to First, Fourth from Main to Pino, Third from Water to Sprague, Pearl from Fifth to Second, covering au area of ten blocks in the businesa heart of the city. The only brick buildings left are the Lynch block and the Ellensburg National Bank. Two hundred houses were totally destroyed, and tha space burned over is ten blocks, or about flfty acres. The loss, as far as can be ascer, tained, is 2,000,000-9750,000 in buildino-s and ?1, a0, 000 in goods. Among the principal buildings destroyed are the Stone Bank, Snipes & Co., Ashler Hotel, Oriental Hotel, Masonic Temple, Odd-Fellows' Hall, Geddes block, Fish' block, Post-OfBce Localizer printing offlce, Dexter stable, Shoudy block, the new brick post-offlce, and Davidson block. The only stores left are: Blumauer & Son, O'Connor & Hogan, Gatzian's shoe store and Coffin's grocery. Tfaere is not a restaurant, hotel or boarding-house left, and thera are about 15Q people destitute. Mayor Abrams has cajled a meeting of citizens, and action wlll be taken for relief. WhiJe the loss is terrible for a city of 4,000 the citizem maintain a cheerful disposition and are determined to build more substantially than ever. The fire exhausted itself after burning tive hours.
