.hammond, ma , July 29. - About 10 o'clock Baturday night lightnlng struck the oleomargarine factory connected with ö. H. Hammond & Co. 's slaughter-house, igniting ik At first the Sames spread rapidly, but the fire departments of the city and company responded promptly and fought the stubborn flamea íed by the oü and grease. By 12 o'olook It was under control. The loss on building and machlnery Is about 110,000 and not lnBuied. It Is estlmated that las.OOO wlll cover the loss on stock, partly lnanred. The capaclty of the factory was 80,000 pounds per day. It wlll be rebuilt lmmediately. No ons was seriousiy Injured. The company employs about 700 men. The flre will not affect the kïlllng department.
