Buffalo, N. Y., Aug. 26. - Carlisle D. Graham on Sunday successfully passed in hia barrel from ihe Maid of the Mist landing at the foot of NiƔgara talla through tha devil's and whirlpool rapids and the great central whirlpool, coming out in safety. He entered the rapid at 4:30 p. m. On tha surrounding heights were over 2,000 spectators. At 4:30 o clock the barrel entered the great whirlpool where in 18S7 William Flack lost nis life in a similar attempt For a moment it sank from sight and hundreda screamed: "He is lost!" But in a moment the little tub reappeared and floated to the Canada side b tyond the reacb of a rescuing party which had intended to stop it at t'.iis point Then it floated around till it was caught in the devil's rapids, where it was borne swiftly on to Lewiston. When recovered at 5:20 o'c'ock the barrel contained a foot of water, but the occupant wai uninjured. Graham will send the barrel over the Horseshoe falls to-day and if it is uninjured will go over it himself next Sunday.
