The annual school meeting of School District No. 1 was held on Monday at Piremen's Hall. Messrs. Mack, Beal and Whedon were reelected trustees, the vote standing as follows: Chiistian Mack, 163; J. E. Beal, 160; W.W. Whedon, 136; W. D. Harriman, 16; Eliza Sunderland, Ló; K. Dufly, H. Hutze), Earl Ware and J. C. Knovrlton, each one. At the business meeting the sum of $24,500 was apportioned, to be raised by tax upon the property in the district, for salaries and other expenses for the school year 1889-90. The trustees were authorized, if deemed uecensary to uaake temporary loan of not more than $5,000 for furnishing and improving the high school. The library appropriation for the ensuing year was placed at $200, and $C0 was provided fcr the yard school libraries. Ottmer lïberbach brought up the subject of teaching Germán in the ward school?, and asked ihat the meeting make some recoramendations to the board. After the matter had been discussedat length,the following resolution wa-! adopted : Resolved, That in the opinión of this meeting the school board should take into their favorable eon8ideration the subject of introducing the tudy of Germán iuto at least two of the ward schools of this city.
