At Colby university, Maine, Gon. B. F. Butler made a comniencenient address which is still marching on. The general's leading idea was a fcdcration of all English speaking pcoples. His idea, he thought, would abolish poverty in the federation, and would put an end to all disputes and wars therein. The alliance could rule the world. Ho belicved in tho uuion of Canada and the United States, but Canada must come to usof her own l'ree choice. There was one tlimg ho thought would start the grand ïuovement towards tlie federation, and that was freo trade among all tho nations nauied. First Iet there be freo trade betwecn the United States and Canada. Then let these two countries take Great Britain into the alliance. Then it would be the Anglo-Saxon against the world.
