American Pomological Society

The proceedingg of the American PoraoIogical Society for 1889, recently issued from The RsoisrER office by Secretary A. A. Croz.er, is meeting wiili a very flattering reception by the agricultura! press. It is a ha id3omely printed volume, of 225 quarto pages, eontaining papers by nearly btty prominent scientists and fruit growers. The fruit catalogue, containing a list of the varieties of fruits which svcceed best ia each state, is issued separatelv from the proceedinga, and may be obtained of the secretary lor $1.00. The catalogue is revised once in lwo years. The revisión for Michigan thia year was made by T. T. Lyon, president o! the Michigan Ilorticulturnl Society. The American Society is now in its 45ih year aodisdoinga very important work for the pomology of the country. Ths present volume contnins a fineeneraving cf ths president of the society, Mr. P, J. Berchmansof Georgia.
