Nine Persons Drowned

PoiíTLAND, Ore., Nov. 9. - Meager particulars have just been received hera from Yaquina City, Ore., of the drownIng of a number of persons there. Thursday a faraily named Parker consisting of the parents and seven children, and another man named Waprgoner. attempted to cross in a sniall boat from Newport to South Beach. When about midway the craft was swamped and all were drowned except Parker, who was Bubsequently picked up by the little steamer Richardson.
