The directora of the Michigan BaseBall League met in Lansing the other day and ended tho wrangle over the pennant by unanimously awarding the flag to Jackson. Manisteo was admitted to the league. Eeports to the State Board of Ilealth by forty-five observers in different parta of the State for the week ended on the 2d indica ted that scarlet f e ver, pleuritis and pneumonia increased, and inflammation of the brain, typhoid feyer, measles, diphiheria, inflammation of tfte bowels, typho-raalarial fever, memhraaous croup, whooping cough and cholera infantum decreased in area of prevalence. Diphtheria was reported at forty places, scarlot fever at twenty-two, typhoid fover at üfty-four and measles at flve places. _ Fonnd Iead. The body of John Basenbark, a farmer living noar Jonesville; was found about sixty rods from his home and by the roadside recently. He had probably been dead two or three days. Some time before he started for üillsdale, and the finding of his body was the first intimation of his misfortune. He was a victim of sinking spells and toolc morphine. Bl(htl of Adopted Clilldren. The Supreme Court has declared unconstitutional the act of 1S61 providing that adopted childrcn could inherit from their foster parents. While alone in the house he set fire to his clothing. Willis Perkins, a farmer who lived near Elmira, shot and instantly killed himself the other day during a fit of temporary insanity. Henry Durand, the famous opium smuggler, was recently captured at Koyal Oaks, twelve miles from Detroit, and placed in the Wayne County jail. Elijah Webber, a ninety-two-yoar-old resident of Brooklyn, died recently. Fire the other night burned the mili, dock, lumber-yard and the McCracken mili at North Muskegon. The annual report of if.o board shows that out of 213 applicants examined during the last fiscal year fifty-two wore rejectcd.
