The topic choseu for the training courseofthe Tappan Presbyterian Association for 1890, is "Epochs in Church History." The introductory lecture was delivered in the old School of Musie, corner of State and Hnron sts., by Kev. J. M. Barkley of Detroit, Monday evening, on "The Apostolic Church." He handled his subject with gret skill and with interest to his hearers. Next Monday evening Rev. Howard Duffield, DD.epeakes on "The Church of the Catacombs." These lectures are all free. The annual mee'ing of the trustees of the afsociation was held Monday afternoon, Rev. Dr. Radcliffa presiding. The letter of Senator McMillan was read, making a formal offer to build the Presbyterian club house for the students at the University, and the board in gratefully accep'ing ie made record of its high appreciation of the Christian generosity of tbe donor, and of the large and enduring benefit he thus confers upon the Presbyterian churoh of Michigan. Plans for McMillan hall werc presen ;ed by the architect?, Masón & Rice, which are held for amendmfint. Two valiiab'e libraries were presented to the asociation, that of Rey. J. G Atterbury, D. D , deceased, oomprising about 000 volumes, and (hat of Rev. George Duffield, D D , deceased, presented by D. Bethune Dumeld, and comorising several thousand volumes tspecially valuable in (lie literature of the seventeenth century and in books of Iheological refrrence. Gifts were also acknowledged ot chirs, carpets and other furnishing of the iirat floor of the Sickütt building, frorn Cap'. Joseph Nicholson and oiher Detroit friend?. Arrangements wre made for opening tli3 reading room in the near future. Rsv. J. Turnbull of Detroit wa enrolled aa trustee elected by the synod of Michigan and a long list of menabers, principally from Detroit, was added to tha roll of the association.
