Joseph Jefferson's recollections of Edwin Forest willform an interesting part of the Jefferson autobiography in the Midwinter (February) Century. Four portrait8 of the famous tragedian - two in character and two as he appeared off thestage - accompany the article. Among the poets of the forthcoming Midwinter (February) Century, are, Richard Henry Stoddarj, James Whitcomb Riley, the Canadian poet Roberts, Edith M.Thomas and Walt Whitman. The Jenness-Miller Magazine. Dress for January, opens the new year most creditably. White will renew hisXew Chapters in the Warfare of Science in the February Popular Science Monthly. The forthcoming chapter will be on Comparativo Mythology. It deals with the myths invented toexplain strangely shaped or distributed rocks, taking the story of Lot's wife, which has gone through many curious variations, as a special example. The Localization of Industries is the subject of an article by J. J. Menzies, to appear in the February Popular Science Monthly, which will throw light upon the most important problem beiore Congress this winter. A searching examination of Henry George's taxation doctrine, by Horace White, will appear in the February Pop ular Science Monthly, under the title, Agriculture and the Single Tax. Mr. White maintains that the interdependence of all industries disposes of the claim that Agriculture has enough advantage over other occupations to warrant laying the burden of all taxation upon it, and asks whether the scheme of " economie rent" would includepaying a bounty to farmers whose profits are a minus quantity.
