Washington-, Jan. 17.- The Señal has confirmed the nominations of Chris Mamer, to be collector of internal revenue for tbn First district of Illinois; Theodoro Koosevelt and IJ. S. Thomp Bon. to he civil-service commissioners; A. J. Uecks. to be judge in the Northern district of Ohio; A. S. FAgf'Tton. to be judgc in the district of South Dakota; James H. Beatty and W. Van Devanter to be chief justices of Idaho and Wyomin, respectively; W. lí. Sterling and F. Wood, te be district attorneys of South Dakota and Idaho, respectively. Wa.siunc.iox, Jan. 17.- The naval board appointed to formúlate a plan for me uuiiaing oí a navy commonsurato with the dignity and power of the Nation, in its report to the Secretary of the Navy will recommend the construction of ninety-two vessels of different types and sizes; these will be built, according to the plan of the board, in fourteen years, and will cost, together with their maintenance during the fourteen years, $280,000,000. It says that the cost of maintenance of a fleet of Toaseis such as it proposes would be only one-quarter that of keeping up the same number of old-style vessels. Washington-, Jan. 18.- The committee on Territorios of the Senato has instructed Chairman Platt to report, recommending the passage of the bilis to make a State of Wyoming and to organize a Territorial form of government for Oklahoma. The subject ot tho investigaron is a contract for shares of stock in a company organized to manufacture a patent ballot box, to which tho signatures of Campbell, the new Governor of Ohio, Senator Sherman, Congressman Buttrworth and other important men were forged. tho object being to charge Campbell with being interested in the company while he was a member of Congrass, and advocating the adoption of tho ballot-box.
