The regular mee'.iag of the common oouacil was held Monday cvening, Aids. Dieterle, Spafford and Barker being the ouly ablénteos. A commuDÍoation wbs received from the Board of Public Works recommending tbat the sum of $60 be appropriated for lowering the shade trees and grading on Ann-st near Twelfth-st. Referred to the finance committee. A petition was received frora A. P. Ker. uson and 13 others asking that an eleotric light be placed on a 60 loot pole, at the intenection of División and Detroit sta. The finacce committee submitted a report that they had audited ace junts on the following funds and warrants were ordered drawn : Contingent fond I 713.07 Pólice " 127-00 FIremen'i " 510.64 Street " 12928 Poor 324.72 Xotal ■ „ - 11805.31 As s lupplementary report the committee presentad the bill of L. B. Norris for 50, for service ia sppearing before tbe Board of Supervisors in belialf of the city, and f or services in the Joslya case. The ordinarios relative to the use of streets, alleys and highways came up lor third reading and wa passed. The city marshal reported se ven arrests during the month, the charges being as follows : larceny, 3; vagraccy, 2; diunkeness, 1 ; icsane, 1. The city superintendent of the poor reported expenditurea for the poor in tin various wards, during the month, as follows: ist ward, $5.36; 2nd ward, $9 99 ; 3rd ward, $47.70; 4th ward, $74.45; 5th werd, $24 72; 6th watd, $7 98; total, $170.20. ' The city treasurer reported the followin?: Receipts, $8 75: disbursements. $4, 682 67; balance overdrawn, $8,439.00. The conditiou cf the various funds was reported as follows : Contingent fund, overdrawn 15119.98 Street " " 669J.46 Firemen's " " 3.3110 Pólice " " 389 93 Pólice fund, balance 417.1 Water " orerdrawn ____ 2321.04 Cemetery " balance 76.8 Dogtax " " 100.00 Delinquent tax fund, overdrawn 977.87 The special committee on sewers reporttd that they hoped to be able to make a complete report at the ncxt meeting. O.) motion of Aid. Herz, a telephone was rrdered placed in the eecond ward school building, in order togive the inhabitants of that vicinity a meang of notifying the fi e department in case of fire. John Conde was appointed special pul'ceman at the T. & A. A. depot, to serve wi hout expense to ihe city. New sidewaiks were ordered built as follows: Oa the sou'h side of Fiiller-st, from Detroit-st to State-st ; on W. Fourthst, in front of the property owned by the Michigan Furniture Co. The ccuncil then adjourned.
