Gilbert Bliss has been confined to h's house by gickness this week. Mrs. E. J. Johnson and her daughter, Mrs. M. Duke, are visiting in Detroit. A. P. Baer moved from this city back to his former home in Ohio, Tuesday. Mrs. B. F. Watts left Monday for Flint, to viait her sister for a couple of weeks. J. M. Y, Miss Grace Upson of Durand, is vititing her sister, Mrs. Torrans, on Forest a 7e. Eugene UpsoD of Durand was the guest of his sister, Mrs. Torrane, last Saturday. Frank Osgood, of Ann Arbor township, has goDe to Stratford, Ont., to visit relatires. City Attorney Kearney went to Hamburg to try a case in a justice court last week. S. S. Bli z returned from Detroit, urday, where he bpent several daye last week. MifS Bertina Bliss returned Monday from Detroi', where she visited Miss Carrie Britton. L. H. Clement has been at his parents' home in Colon, aud in other parts of the state, for the past week. Vernor J. Teft of Masón, formerly editor of the Ingham County New?, has been in the city this week. Miss Minnie Pierce, of Coldwater, b visiting in the city, the guest of the Misses Cowan on S. Main-st. Emmanuel Luiok is in attendanoe at the grand lodge, A. O. U. W., which is in session at East Saginaw, thig week. J. A. Dell was in Detroit, Tuesday, in attendance at the eighth annual meeting of the Michigan Veterinary Association. John Schumacher is recovering fast from his sickness. An operation which was performed, Tuesday, relieved him greatly. Miss Tillie Mutsche!, a student m the Normal School, spent several days this week with her brother C. E. Mutschel, in this city. Eugane Best, lit '89, has beea a guest at the house of F. Schmid this week. Ha left this week for New York to have his eyes treated. Mre. McConnell of New York, nee Carré Brown formerly of this city, visited the family of Gk H. Rhodes in the Ffth ward, one day last week. Prof. Almon W. Vincent is visitirg George A. Katzenberger in this cty. Prof. Vincent has recintly returned from Germany, and will soon begin his duties n the collage of music of Cmcinnati. Chas. S. and D. C. Fall returned Friday from Albion, where they were called last week by the se-ious illneis of their mother. She was much improved when they left and is now in a fair way to recover. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wanea went o Linsiag last week, to attend the funeml of Mr. Warrec's mjther. Mr. Warren returned Monday evenir.fr, his wife being taken with the grip, remained a few days longer. Rev. J. M. Buckley, D. D., who delivered the addresa b afore the Wesleyan Guild, Sunday evening, stayed in tbe city until Tuesday, when he left for Muskegon. He visited the University and other places of intere3t on Monday, and was greatly pleased with the city. Miss Adelaide M. Knight, with Hon. and Mrs. O. M. Barnes oL Lansing and Mr. and Mrs Hayden and daughter of Jacksou, will sail on February 15 for Havre, France. Prof. Geo. W. Knight and family, wioteriDg in Berlin, will join the party at Florence about March 20th. Sidney T. Holmes, of Cincinnati, formerly of this city, was here to visit his mother and other relatives one day last week. He is quite fortúnate in having invented as team filter, oil separator and condenser combined, to be used in artificial ice factories, with which he causes a eaving of one-half in the coat of fuel. Mr. Holmes' machines are being adopted by all the ice factories, and he is reaping a rich harvest in royaltiea.
