A frame house in the north end of Bay City, oecupied by Mr. and Mrs. Lozons and Mrs. Nadon and her flve small children, was burned early the other morninr. Lozons threw his wlfe out of a window into the street below, and she sustained a fracturo of one of her legs and other severo injuries, and she would probably dip. Mrs. Nadon escaped with her 7-months"-old baby on one arm and a 2-year-old child in the other, and two more rangingr from 3 to G years clinging to her nipht-dress. She made a desperate effort to save her oldest child, Georgia, who was bnrned to deatb. llealth In Michigan. Reports to the State Board of Hoalth by fifty-two observers in different parts of the State for the week ended on the 15th indicated that typhoid fever, membranous croup, cerebro-spinal meningitis, inflammation of the brain, dysentery, pneumonía and whoopin cough lncreased, and cholera infantum, cholera morbus, typho-malarial fever, smallpoi and measles decreased in area of prevalence. Diphtheria was reported at twenty-seven places, scarlet fever at thirty-three, typhoid fever at ten and measles at fifty-four places. Burned Befors Her Husband's Eyes. Mrs. D. Carlisle, an aged woman HtIng three miles west of Marysville, accidentally inited her clothing the other day. Sbe fainted and the clothing was burned fiom her body, and she died the next day. Her husband was tho only occupant of the house when tho accident occurred, and was a witness of it, but was powerless to help the sufferer, as he is a paralytic and can move neither hand norfoot. Killed by the Cars. Henry Purdy, his wife and a neighbor's ffirl named Emerson, the latter 13 years old, were driving into Jackson from South Jackson the other day at 10 o'clock. At the Crossing on Francis street, a mile out, the Air Line mail struck the rig and all three were killed, as well as both horses. Jlr. Purdy and his wife were almost instantly killed, and the girl lived about flfteen minutes. Flfty Millions of Capital. The Capital Investment and Loan Association, with a capital of 850,000, - 000, was recently incorporated in thi's State. James W. Turner, of Lansinp is the president; C. L.
