A special meeting of the common council wf s held last Thurfday evening. Aids. Herz and Ware, and Pres. Belser were absent, and Aid. Miller was called to the ehair. Tne special business of the meeting was the cicsideration acid pas sage of ordinances. Ordinanccs relativeto thefollcwine: subject were read and passed : Disorderly persons and disorderly conduct; use of flre-arms; disorderly houses. Some question having arisen as to the legality of amendments made to several ordinances passed at the last meeting, the TOte was reconsidered, and amendments to the following ordinances were repassed: Relative to porters, runners and drivers; uee of streete, alleys and public places ; licenses ; naming streets. An ordinance relative to public health and to abate nu'sances was given first reading, and another relative to preserving good order was given first and second readings. The annual report of the city treaeurer was presented acd referred to the finance committee. The report embodied a detailed account of each of the city funds, and other firjancial staiistics regarding the city, from which is taken the following: The amount of city taxes collected from the rolls of 1888 and 1889 is given below, together with the amount apportioned to each fund; 1888.
