Stevenson, who went to California in seach of heath two years ago, have returned to Ypsilanti. Oíd associations proved too strong for them and then Ypsilanti is about as healthy a place as theyVe struuk anyway. A number of our best folks took in Booth and Modjeska at Detroit tuis week. Mrs. Max Pease and young daughters are out from Oácodavisiting theirgrandparents, Mr. and Mra. Edwin Hewitt. The contractor for laying the street railway writes that he will begin work here in June or July. Mrs. Helen Swift is about to build a high toned livery establishment back of Sander's clothing store, which will cost somewhere near $10,000. C. L. Yost will rent it, of courfe. The big normal choir is in ccntant rehearsal for the flower show at Detroit next week. Milán. A. D Jackson is building an additirn to his house. The Baptist social at Mrs. Rotise's was well at tended. Born- To M, C. Edwards and wife, a daughter, April 11. The Milán library will soon have a new supply of books. Mr. and Mrs. Dentón are entertaining guests from Nebraska. Mr. Billings, aged 70 years, died at his home on Hurd-st. April 9. Dick Knight was the nest of his paren ts, a few days last week. The infant son of Mrs. Chas. Moore died April 13, of brain trouble. Mra. Burnap is visiting her son in Sherwood, Ohio, for a few days. Mrs. G. R. Williams was quite ill last week, but is now convalescent. C. M. Blackmer will do soine more building on Mainst. this spring. Mrs. Roscoe Allen will entertain tiie M. E. Aid society, Wednesday evening. The Free Methodists are holding cottage prayer meetings every evening. Several new houses are being erected in our progressive village this summer. The Y. P. S. C. E. will be condiicted at the Baptist church, April 20, by Enos Throop. David Hitchcock has commenced putting a large addition on his house on First-st. "W. H. Whitmarsh is putting extensivo improvements on his residence on Mainst. Orris Throop was the victim of a surprise Wednesday, the event being his birthday. The Graham-Earle dramatic company held the boards well the entire week at the Milan opera house. The company was good and the Milan people were well pleased. Miss Gertie Hanson is teachirur in the high school, in place of Miss McMuIlen, resigued. Several of the Milan Presbyterians attendeil the Presbytery at Ypsilanti Thursday. The Epworth League will be conducted by F. Trussel, April 20, at the M. E. church. Attorney F. Trussel moved his law office into Mr. Zimmermau's block on Main st. labt week. W. W. Shurts is running the River-sf meat market alone, having bought out J. Lockwood's interest. L Wilcox, of Milan, and Miss A. Bichardson, of Cone, were married, April 9, by Rev. M. H. Bartram. Attorney G. R. Williams had the pleasure of entertaining three University law studente, Saturday. Mr. Goddard, of Ann Arbor, will talk to the young people at the Presbyterian church, next Sunday. Members of other churches are invited. Thurlow Blackmer left for MontEelier, O., the last of the week, where e will clerk for C. W. Thompson in one of his branch clothing stores. Wm. Whaley's team took a plunge bath :n the raging Saline, Wednesday. They were frightened and ran off the embankment. No serious damae was done.
