Gainrsvim.k. Tex., April 2tí.- It has been raining alraost continuously since last Monday night, and at 8 o'clock Thursday night acloud-burst struok the city, lasting four hours, deluging tho town to tho depth of several foet. The water ran in rivera through th streets, in manj places three leet deep. A sraall creek left its banks and swept away numerous small dwellings. The tire alarm was sounded at 11 o'clock and the dopartment and hundreas of poople turned out and helped in rssouing families rosidinj on the lowlands along he creek. The loss lo property will ruu up into the thousands. The whole country is delujjed and erop are oertainly ruined. The storm was the hoaviest ever known in this soction. Larpe washouts have ocnurrod on all railroads in this vioinity, and it will bc several days before trains can run. The only Hfe lost was that of a woman who died ín the arms of a man who was carrying her from her horac, which was surrounded by water sevoral feet doep.
