St. Paul, Minn., May 5.- Severa sand-storms raged in the Northwest Saturday, accompanied by daraage to the newly-planted crops. The severest 6torms were at Morehead and Ada, Minn.; Forman, N. D., and Bristol, 8. D., whero the sand ■was whirled about In snch dens clouds that it waa impossible to see three rods ahead. Much of the uudrilled wheat was blown from the ground and will have to be replantad. Osakisa, Herman and Crookston, Minn., experienced the same itorm though less violently. It3 effects were feit all over the State. The center of the spring wheat belt is 6uffering for rain, and unless relief comes within a week the orops will be greally damaged. Th only north western points at whioh raina were reported were Pierre and Chamb lain, S. D. Webster, S. D., May 5.- A terrlflo wlnd-storm raged here, uncovering th ëeed in the wheat flelds, wliich are dy and like an ash heap. Rain is badly needed.
