Mr. Barkley, a cootractor from Chicago, was ia the city, Saturday, in company with Messrs. Cprlisa a-id McLaughlin, looking over the lay of the land prior to commencing work on the street rail way. The general plan of work was laid out and infactall the preliminares were arrangeJ for. It is stilt undecided whether the company will furnish their own power or secure it from the electric light company. The material for the road is expected to be here by the end of next week, so that the company will be able to fulfill their contract by commencing thu construction before July lst. Herbert Gladstone will visit the United States and Canada during the ooming eummer.
