Chicago, June 27. - The National Commissioners of the World's Columbian Exposition assembled at the Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday, and were called to order at noon by Commissioner Ewing, of Illinois. Judgo John T. Harris, of Virginia, was electod temporary chairman, and R. R. Price, of Kansas, temporary secretary, with W. E. Curtis, M his assistant. A banquet was tendered the commisBioners at the Palmer House Thursday night. Addresses were made by several members, and it was officlally announced that the lake front as a site for tbe fair was deemed impracticable and had been abandoned by the directora o( the local organization. Senator Thomas W. Palmer, of Michig an, was on Friday nnanimouly eleoted president of the World's Columbian Exposltion, and John T. Dlckinson, ol Texas, was chosen as secretar?.
