Tom Neat has opened a very attractive tonsorial parlor in the Occidental. Mrs. Anna Millard and sons are enjoying life in iheir cotiage at Bay View. Mre. Wm. Ei.key will start for Minneapolis irext week, for a month's visit. Mrs. 0. F. Hall and uhildren were out from Detroit to speiid the Fourth With Ypsilanti friends. Mr. Ashley Minor and danehter, Miss Mary, Bpent Thurstiay aud Friday of last week at Ioco Mrs. John VanCleve, who was fo badly injured by a runaway last week, ia Bteadily improving. Miss Nan Sewell, of the post-ofrice force, is taking lier vacation, vifeiling Grand Rápida friends. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Keech drove down from Ann Arbor on the Fourth aud smiled on a few friends. Mrs. Kate Tower and daughter are out from the wild west to tpend the summer with Mrs. L. Wartz. Miss Matie Cody, the popular young lady clerk at Samson's drug store, is rusticating with Cievelanders. Miss Emma Hicks, of Owosso, who has been with her sister Flora in our central telephone office, has returned home. Miss Minna Moore, of Marquette.who has been visiting friends here for a month or more, returned home last Saturday. The Liht Guarda celebrated the Fourth at Monroe, and are getting in two drills a week, preparing for the state encampment. Mrs. Dennis Doyle, who has been a Bufferer from consumption for many months, died Thursday. Sne leaves a huaband and three children. Prof. and Mrs. Lodeman and" Miss Hilda Lodeman have started for Bay View. They each will teach a foreign language at the Bay View summer unlversity. Milnii. Milán was exceedingly on quiet the Fourth. Mrs J. C. Rouse returned from Saline, Monday Rev. J. Huntington visited Detroit, Monday. A valuable horse died in Milari, Sundaj', from over driving. Miss Grace Huntington is entertaining friends from Chicago. A large number of Milanites spent the fourth at Whitmore Lake. Miss May Allen, of Ann Arbor, is visiting Milan friends for a few days. A large number of Milan pleaaura seekera spent the fourth in Saline. Dr. Harper and family are entertaining a guest from Detroit ,this week. BuBiness is unusually good for this time of year, sothe merchants report. The races to come off at the driving park on the 12th, are much talked of. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bennett, of Ann Arbor, called on Milan friends the third. Mr. Ed. Leonard and family returned from the west, Saturday, after several montbs' absence. Mr. O. P. Newcomb and family, of Detroit, are the guests of Mr. Burnops' people for a few days. Mr. J. Vercelius' horse ran away Sunday and broke the carriageand harness badly. The horee was slightly injured. The Graham Earle Company produced "Josh Whitcomb" at the opera house, on the Fourth. Mr. Earle as Josh was a succes8 and the support also did well. Dexter. Rome fields of wheat are ready for the harvesters. Full. Hawkes, one of our oldest citizens, Is hopelessly 111. D. L. Waller took his departure from our town, afier three yeara' successful work as principal of our schools, on Monday, the 7th instant. Kev. Burns and wife, of Hillsdale, also Rev. Cleftlin and wife, of Deerfield, formerly located at Dexter, celebrated the fourth herewith their many frienda. T. J. McDonald, of Toledo, delivered a fine oration on the fourth, and the celebration was a success throughout, from the first exercises in the morning to the last display of fire works. lUxboro. Miss Nellie Bush, of East Saginaw, is visiting Mrs. James Bush. Misses AlviraCampand Sarah Keedle spent a few days in Clinton , last week. M. F. Galpin was the first to reap the golden grain in the vicinity of Dixboro. Dr. and Mra. J. H. Lemen have returned from a ten days' sojourn at Whitmore Lake. Mrs. George Fisher and daughter. of Ann Arbor, visited at Thoe. Finnell's a few Jays last week. The Fourth of July was not cele brated here, many of our young people pending their Fourth at Whitinore Lake. Veeder Shankland now carries the mail between this place and Ann Arbcr, which is as far as the new mail route extends at present. Mr. Thos. Corbett whocameover here Ifroni Limerick, Ireland about two years ago, was elected president of the C. C. Club, at Monroe last week.
