tALT Lak e, ü. T., Sept 7.- At the general conference of the ohurcn of Jesus Chrlst of Latter-Day Saints Monday morning the official declaration of President Wilford Woodruiï forbidding in future any marriages in violation of thu laws of the land was read, and the congregation, numbering nearl.y 10,000 persons, including the apostles, bishops and leading elders of the church, by unanimous vote recognized tho authority of the presiduut to issue the manifestó and acceptod it as authoritativo and binding. George Q. Cannon publicly announced his indorsement of the manifestó and his recognition of the supremacy of laws that bad been declared constitutional by tbo Supreme Court of the United States. The conference also readopted the original artioles of faith, among which is this: "We believe In bein? subject to Kings,' Presidents. rulers and magiatratea in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law." The action taken settles the vexed question and places an effectual bar against future polygamous marriages in Utah. It is the most important step taken by the church for more than a quarter of a century.
