There are many ways by which the government coulá loan money directly to the people without the intervention of national banks, but we will give only one, whioh wo believe to be so simple that even a national banker wonld be compelled to admit that it was practical. Our plan would be simply this: That the govermnent loan to the statea at 1 per cent. interest; the state loan to the countiea at 2 per cent., and the counties to the people at 3 per cent. There would be bnt three transactions. From the United States treasnrer to the 6tate treasurer, from the state treasurer to the connty treasurer, and to th people by order of the board of commiasioners. No inerease of officers, no extra expense, no danger of losa or corrnption. The interest would go into the national, state and county treasuriea to defray the expenses of government, national, state and county, which would relieve the tai payers, as there would be no taxes to pay - at least while the volume of money loaned remains at what it is at tho present time. - Denver Field and Farm.
