The "miud reading"exhibition which took place on Saturday ever ing last, wae not a complete suceess. Dr. Gatchell performed the feat of telling the name on a piece of paper enclosed in an envelope and also of finding a word in the dictionary, but he did not teil the numberon a bank-bill nor open a safe, nor discover stolen property. All these feats had been previously performed by the doctor- so there can ba no doubt as to his ability to perform them. The dissertation on "Ghosts," which preceded the practical experimenta, was highly entertaining, benig replete with philosophy, humor and common sense. During the evening the glee club gave iveral fine selections, which were heartily appreciated. The entertainment brought ia $500 for the gymnasium fu'id. The Ladiea f the Library Association desirethrough these columns to express thfiir gratitude to the many frienda who so kindly aided them in ihe presentation of the Ben Hur tableanx.
