Anthony, (".liti.r of V.ie Leavenworth Times, was horsewhipped on Delaware street Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock by William Fortesque, the defeated republican candidato for mayor. During the campaign Anthony's paper published editorlally mauy sensational attaeks on Fortesque. They met Wednosdïty aiternoon, and Fortesque, drawing a riding-whip from under his co;iV. luid t rijfht and left about Anthony's head and shoulders. Under the rain of blows Anthony backcd across the Street, alt.'mptin; no defense. Althoujh a Large wowd collected. no one interfered until Fortesque, haviug satisticd bis vengeance, turned on lus heel and walked away.
