A War Hero

Henry W. Slocnm was born near Syracuse, N. Y., in 1827. He entered West Point Military academy in 1848, and was graduated in 1852. In 1856 he resigned and became a lawyer. When the civil war broke out he became a colonel of infantry, and remained in the service till the close of hostilities. He came out of the war a major general. He is now engaged in business in New York.
