Berlín, April 27. - General votí Moltke, one oí thc great historie figures of tlio Germán empire, died suddenly Friday night at liis residence in this city. He was an interested spectator of the proceedingsln thereichstag Friday afteraoon. and appeared in ex eellent hcaltli, laughing and chatting pleasantly with Chancellor von Caprivi aml several members of the reichstag. After the session he lingered in the lobby a few minutes conversing with a number of army omoei-s. and theu was driven to his residence. At 9:80 o'clock Friday night his physicians were summoned, but on their arrival a few minutes later they found the general dead aod pronounced the cause heart disease. Whlle the general wu sitting in his chair he suddenly gasped and without a word e.xpired. The fatnily entertained hopos that he could be resuscitated but the physicians at once determined that he was dead. The news spread rapidly t hrough the city and on every hand created the most profound sorrow. Count von Moltke was born at Parchim on Oetober 28, 1800. In 18:22 he entered the army, and was made chief marshal of the Germán empire in 1871 and was created count in 1872.
