San FbaNCISCO, May '-.- The president and party returned írom Santa Ciuz shortly bef ore noon Priday. When the ferryboat reaehed the landing a eommittee of citizens headed by Mayor Sanderson met the party with earriages and the president, Postmaster-General Wanamaker and Secreretary Rusk were taken to the rooms of th chaiaber of commeivi1. whileothers of the party proceeded to the Palace hotel, where they had lunch. President Barrison, accompanied by a committee of business men, ascended to the rooms of the chamber, iollowed by members of the oommercial organization of the city and of the Mexiean veterans, California pioneers. and tcientific and other assoCiations. President Taylor of tha chamber of commerce then delivered an address of welcome, to which the president responded. The banquet at the Palace hotel at night in honor of President Harrlson was attended by 250 guests. The affair was comlueted on an elabórate scale and was the elosing feature of the presidenfs visit to this city. Sax 1-'ka: isco, May - President Harrison obfained :nuch needed rest Sunday. In the morning he attended the First Congfreffational church. The rest of the day he remained in his rooms.
