Duty was married and bad one child. hut had been separated from bis wife. She and her child were staving with her inothcr. Mtd Duty, after being away for some tim-, calod Tuesday afternocm to get his child, vvhich was at Mra. AlU'n's, hut hhe forbade him the house. He then carne to town and BOUgfat lefjal advice as to his rights about the possession of his child. Returning home in the afternoon he met his wife, child and raotlnr-in-law on the road and they had a quarrel and scuffle over the child. Finally Duty shot his motherin-law in the face three times with a 88-caliber revolver, killing her almost instan tly. He then tried to kill his wife, but the revolver would not discharge. Coroner Palmer held an inquest and a verdict was rendered by the jury in aceordance with the above facts. Duty is still at large, but a posse is in pursuit of him.
